They were told to arrest this crew one by one, taking them one by one into their secure perimeter and away from the mic and camera. You can tell because that’s exactly what they did. They’ll likely use the excuse it’s because they told them to move and they didn’t, but I’d really fucking love to know why the order came for these guys and not the other CNN reporter in the city. It’s true that the US is normally prohibited from using the armed forces domestically by the Posse Comitatus Act. There are exceptions, though. One of which is in cases of domestic insurrection, which is how the 1st Marine Division and the 7th Infantry Division ended up deployed on the Top White Silence Is Violence Shirt streets of Los Angeles in 1992 during the riots there. This was a huge wake-up call for me about how stupid things can get and how protected the police are. However, given the circumstances, they can come up with some bullshit reason. It’s how they can arrest entire groups of protestors when a Top White Silence Is Violence Shirt small portion gets violent.
