Try to have a high honor at the end and enjoy one of the most emotional and wonderful endings in video game history. I genuinely think Red Dead 2 has the best character development I’ve ever experienced in any piece of art/entertainment across all mediums. No other medium would let you spend a 20-minute segment fishing and shooting the shit with Dutch and Hosea, and yet those types of moments contribute so crucially to the impact of the story and the character arcs. I understand that not everyone is on board with the pacing, but if you buy into the experience, the story is incredibly rewarding. Man I put it down at around 50% and I feel you on this. I feel like the walking/running/shooting were shitty. Not to mention the slow ass traveling. The number of times Spidey made me laugh out loud or nearly cry was unreal. It’s one of my favorite Spider-Man stories across any medium, up there with the Ultimate comics and Spider-Verse movie. Just collecting balloons and delivering pizza. The web-swinging was so good in that game. Then for over 10 years, no one got it right. Till insomniac. Absolutely. I think this is the major point that needs to be highlighted. The police are citizens, not gods. They need to obey the exact same laws as everyone else. I’m talking from cell phone use while driving and speeding to assault and murder. Cops are US citizens and need to be held to US law just like every other citizen. I think it’s less the laws and more the fact that they aren’t being informed. What was done to George Floyd and many others was clearly illegal, but the law was simply not enforced. The real problem is that police are practically immune to the law due to it not being enforced on them.I’m not American but I can see this cycle happening again and again. Apparently I’m being accused of being anti-Semitic? I wrote this comment after midnight, I guess I wasn’t clear enough with my thoughts. I don’t have a problem with Jewish summer camps or Jewish people. I’ve worked at Jewish camps before, and they’re great. My issue with this commercial is that it feels like a bait and switch. They claim to give the money to impoverished kids, and the commercial is completely secular. But then the money really only goes to one (pretty extreme) group to help them keep kids within their faith. There’s a wonderful documentary about the creation of the book, called The Phantom Tollbooth: Beyond Expectations. I really enjoyed it, especially the interviews with the author, Norton Juster, and the illustrator, Jules Pfeiffer. (They are both still with us, though both turn 91 this year!) I often find myself joking with people who make an assumption, by warning them they may end up on the island of conclusions! Sadly, no one but my family seems to have heard of the book and the jump Milo took to the Island.
