At the height of my career, I would fill a garbage can with crushed cans in a week and another half full of bottles. I could easily put away a 30 pack in a day. I’m relatively certain this neighbor could have dried those up through the quarantine… I kinda feel bad for them, hopefully, they find their peace as I did. Oh, God… I had so many hiding spots throughout my house. I was still finding hidden stashes at about a year sober. When I got drunk… Which was every day… I would hide booze and or drugs in places that I thought were ingenious. They were good hiding spots apparently but terrible considering I could never find them. But yeah, coconut rum in a conditioner bottle or a sunscreen bottle. Pint of whiskey in the back tank of the toilet. I also had hidden a bunch of Vicodin in a Jobu’s Rum Is Very Bad To Steal Shirt Tylenol bottle, only to surprise remember about them after taking two. Being an addict/alcoholic is essentially a full-time job. I’ll have 4 years sober in a month.
I thought I did too until I had to go to AA meetings after getting a DUI. I know how that sounds, and I did drink a lot, but I wasn’t anywhere close to the level some of these people were. The first one I went to the speaker talked about his habits. Also, they’re all different. A couple was really into the religious aspect of it, many dismissed it entirely.  I’m sure this pandemic will send some people to a place they don’t want to go to. Just know that these groups are out there and they leave stigma at the door. You walk in, you are a person who needs help and they will help you.

Actually they can fly pretty well. When I was in Tennessee as an exchange student for a year, I was surprised by the team spirit of each High School. Like how there was a football game every Friday night and almost all of the school was there to cheer them on. That would never happen in my country. It was a huge social event in my high school back in the 80s. Everyone sat together with their group of friends and eventually someone would say “party at Joe’s place…1 hour”.
